Have you ever heard about a $9.6 billion scam? Well, grab your popcorn because this story is wild! 🍿

Federal High Court Orders Closure of Companies in Massive $9.6 Billion Scandal

In an intense twist of justice, the Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the closure of two companies connected to the jaw-dropping $9.6 billion Process and Industrial Development (P&ID) Ltd scandal. 🎬

The Players:

  • Companies Involved: Trinity Biotech Nigeria Limited and Resorts Express Concept Nigeria Ltd.
  • Main Character: Fugitive Briton, Mr. James Nolan. 🕵️‍♂️

Justice Donatus Okorowo found these companies guilty of money laundering offences. He didn't just slap them on the wrist—he ordered that both companies be wound up and their assets forfeited to the Federal Government of Nigeria. ⚖️

Back on May 6, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had filed separate charges against these companies and Nolan. Things took a turn when Nolan, a director at P&ID Ltd, jumped bail and fled Nigeria. The EFCC requested that Nolan be tried in absentia, and he was declared wanted with an arrest order hanging over him like a dark cloud. ☁️

More Drama Unfolds

In a related case, Resorts Express Concept Nigeria Ltd and another foreign associate, Corrado Fantoli, were also prosecuted. Fantoli, tried in absentia, is facing an eight-count money laundering charge. He, along with another associate, Giovanna Beccarelli, were declared wanted too. 🚨

These companies are just a few players in a network of over 30 companies linked to this colossal scam. Other cases are still unfolding in various courts.
